Overview:
Harty Capital, which was founded by John Harty in 1980, evolved from a California law firm into a mortgage banking and asset recovery firm. In 1993 the firm established a Boise office. Our firm's effectiveness is founded on unique skills and experience.
SKILL & EXPERIENCE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
John T. Harty earned BA and JD degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the Bar (ID, IL, and CA) and licensed as Real Estate Broker (ID and CA). For 30 years Mr. Harty has been successfully involved throughout the U.S. in real estate finance, development, management, acquisition/disposition as well as asset recovery for distressed properties and problem loans. He has sat on all sides of the table in the financing process as borrower, broker, lender and legal counsel for borrowers and lenders.
As president, Mr. Harty and his management advisory team rescued Lincoln Mortgage Investors, a publicly owned mortgage/equity REIT, from the threshold of bankruptcy. He devised and implemented one of the REIT industry's most successful strategies for restoring shareholder net worth, liquidity and profitability.
Mr. Harty also served as a Senior Executive of a liquidation management advisory firm. He was responsible for operation and disposition of a failed S&L’s portfolio that included five million feet of commercial and industrial property, 10,000 multi-family units, 1000 single family residences and 10 hotels. As a voting member of the Executive Loan Committee, he participated in approving $4 billion of new and restructured financing for properties located in 34 states.
Jim Klumpp earned a BA from University of Colorado and an M.B.A./Finance from the University of Denver. He has been involved throughout the U.S. in real estate finance, development, operation, acquisition/disposition for over 15 years.
Mr. Klumpp served as Assistant Vice President and Finance Manager for SAFECO Properties Inc./Winmar Company, a Seattle based real estate investment and development company with a nation-wide portfolio. The company’s portfolio included regional malls, community shopping centers, office buildings, industrial buildings, medical real estate, (hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities), land development projects and hotels. Mr. Klumpp was responsible for project financing, banking relationships, acquisitions and divestitures and various asset management activities. Mr. Klumpp was a key member of the management team that successfully sold the assets of SAFECO Properties to a national REIT in 1999. The transaction was valued at over $700 million. After successfully completing that portfolio sale transaction, Mr. Klumpp returned home to Idaho and joined Harty Capital as a partner
