Global law firm signs 20-year lease

A global law firm signed a 20-year lease in New York.

It's two decades of New York space for one law firm.

Jones Day, a global law firm that gives counsel or legally represents half of the Fortune 500, recently signed a 20-year lease for floors 27 through 34 at Brookfield Place in New York City. The building is located at 250 Vesey St., and the deal was brokered by Studley, the leading global commercial real estate services firm specializing in tenant representation.

Studley has helped Jones Day in the past, and the global law firm sought Studley again in order to increase its commercial real estate efficiency, provide a dynamic workspace and generate superior business economics. Jones Day has 40 offices in major markets around the world.

"Jones Day's relocation to Brookfield Place represents another significant step forward in the continued evolution of Lower Manhattan and it wouldn't have been possible without the vision, professionalism and dedication of the Studley team," said Jerry Larkin, senior vice president and director of leasing for Brookfield Office Properties.

Jones Day currently occupies 425,000 square feet of space in three different locations found by Studley. Jones Day outgrew its headquarters at 222 East 41st St., and eventually expanded to a pair of locations, 605 Third Ave., and 220 East 42nd St. The firm plans to move into Brookfield Place sometime in 2016.

"By moving to Brookfield Place, Jones Day will be in the heart of New York's dramatically changed Downtown," said Mitchell Steir, Studley's chairman and CEO. "The premium space allows Jones Day to occupy eight contiguous floors at the top of the complex and provides access to ample amenities, transportation and housing."

Brookfield Place is located on the Hudson River waterfront and features 7 million square feet of office space within four glass towers.
