Private sector experiences September employment increase

The private sector experienced a hiring increase last month.

More property management companies may experience an increase in occupancy rates, as more consumers were hired by the private sector during September.

ADP's National Employment Report for September showed that the month had 162,000 more jobs gained in the private sector compared to the previous month. This was higher than July's figure of 156,000, but much lower than the 189,000 recorded in August.

September's results showed that more than 80,000 jobs were created by small businesses, while 64,000 were from medium businesses, the report noted. Large businesses added an additional 17,000.

"This month's ADP National Employment Report shows an increase of 162,000 new jobs in September," said Carlos Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer for ADP. "Today's report shows that year-to-date employment gains averaged 171,000 jobs per month, compared to an average increase of 138,000 jobs per month compared to the same period last year."

The report added that the service sector had the largest slice of the total gain, as 144,000 were hired. Additionally, the goods-producing sector added the final 18,000.
