NAHB honors multiple elite apartments

The National Association of Home Builders recently recognized multiple properties.

The National Association of Home Builders finalized an awards list of several properties considered to be elite in the multifamily market.

The 2012 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards recognized 77 properties throughout the United States as top destinations when comparing 27 categories. Some of these included design, marketing, energy efficiency, management and development.

"This year's finalists reflect creativity and forward-thinking approaches to planning, design, execution and marketing," said W. Dean Henry, chairman of NAHB's multifamily leadership board. "Green and energy-efficient features in today’s market are a must, but our finalists incorporated them in unique ways that benefit their residents."

Henry explained that many of the properties were not only green, but the property management companies made strides to ensure they accomplished sustainability in an new and innovative way. This includes properties that had plug-in areas for hybrid and electric cars, as well as a large portion of recycled materials used throughout the property. These options are attractive to many renters as many look for improved environmental choices.

The organization plans to give awards out to the winners in October.
